FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How can one help avoid tick borne illnesses such as Lyme disease?
- Stay in the middle of wooded trails.
- Consider using a tick repellant containing DEET on your skin, and Permethrin based products on your clothes.
- Wear white socks, and tuck them into your pants.
- Do frequent tick checks, and a full body exam when you return home. Remember deer ticks are tiny, about the size of a pinhead.
- If you find an attached tick, DO NOT put any substances on it. Use fine point tweezers, grasp it by the mouthparts, next to the skin, and gently pull it out.
- Put the tick in a ziplock bag if you want to have it
- tested. Wash the bite site, the tweezers, and your hands.
